Security Baubles

Is there anything pretty or sexy about security?
Well a San Francisco start up, Cuff, has found a  way to make being secure just that.  They have created a collection of bracelet cuffs, necklaces and key chains that act as a personal alert system.  A small Cuff module is embedded into the accessory of your choice and connected to your smartphone.  It will allow you to send alerts or notify those you have designated when you need help.
You download the free application and then set up your "circle of security" to receive alerts, when needed you simply touch your jewelry with a single, double or triple touch and your location will be shared.  This fashionable technology will also alert you when you get an important call, if you've left your phone somewhere and it keeps track of how active you are on a daily basis.
All of the pieces in this collection are fun and fashionable.  And at the end of the day when you take your jewelry off you can recharge your Cuff module in their charging jewelry box, how clever!

Gemstone Roundtable ~ Mia Gemma

Last night I had the pleasure of being a guest at a very intimate dinner at Mia Gemma, a boutique jewelry store in Penn Quarter.  We spent the evening "playing" with gemstones from all over the world.  They were all up for "dibs" to explore or purchase and the amazing ladies of Mia Gemma helped many design some fantastic bespoke pieces.  Here are just a few from over a hundred gemstones of the night. {Pin-tastic Tuesday} Year of the Snake

2013, in the Chinese calender is the year of the snake.  Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means your family will not starve.  The Snake is the intuitive, introspective, refined and most collected of the animal signs.  So in honor of this year I created a Pinterest collection.

Timepieces from The Dawg

Lost time is never found again. ~ Benjamin Franklin

For over a decade Randy Jackson has entertained us on American Idol with his "keeping it real" critics.  And over the years we've seen him flaunt his fashion style from his chunky bracelets to timepieces and in the last couple of seasons even brooches.  So it's a national fit for him to create his own watch collection, Timepieces by Randy Jackson.  And I have to say that I am digging a lot of the pieces in his collection, he prides himself on "Having the eye for what is “next” in fashion and accessories, I am able to design for women, as well as men."  So his collection is a good mix for both genders.  I pulled out some of my favorite pieces, ranging from classic to pops of contemporary color.  Randy Jackson can now be added to the HSN wall of fame with the likes of Wolfgang Puck, Martha Stewart and Iman, to name a few.  Bonus is the reasonable price point that ranges from $69 - $220.

{Pin-tastic Tuesday} Mint Madness

I am one of the many growing female population that follows the "madness" of March basketball.  I may not follow the games during the regular season but am the first in my house to print out the brackets and make my picks. (for fun of course)  And of course my brackets have been shot from day one, oh well.  Now it gives me time to pin.  Here's my Pinterest tribute "Mint Madness"

Mila Kunis lands new role with Gemfields

London based Gemfields, one of the world's foremost colored gemstone producers, reveled it's first brand Ambassador.  Black Swan actress, Mila Kunis.

"I truly believe in Gemfields' mission of ethical mining, and I absolutely have fallen in love with the rarity, beauty and history of emeralds," says Kunis.

In the newest released advertisement, Kunis is dripping in a one of a kind emerald and ruby necklace that is a perfect collaboration of the Gemfields design partners, to include Faberge, whom they recently acquired.

I look forward to seeing Gemfields new collection that is scheduled to debut later this month, we can only image the decadence to come.

Golden Globe Jewelry Buzz

Fashion folks eagerly anticipate the Fashion Week season, I eagerly anticipate award season.  Just to see how the fashionably famous are dressing their fingers, wrists and necks.  Over the last couple of years we've seen some great jewelry hits and some bare bling misses.  Last nights Golden Globes had some hits but I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that all those plunging necklines were so bare.

Taylor Swift in Lorraine Schwartz ~ She looked amazingly sophisticated in this plum Donna Karen.

Salma Hayek in Martin Katz ~ I loved how she made it pop with these beautiful paraiba tourmaline cacochon earrings. *

Adel in Cartier earrings ~ She is one of my favorites, just so classy in a long black number with just a flawless face.

Debra Messing in Samira 13 earrings and bangles and Amrapali bangle ~ She's another one that always ends up on my favorites list.  She's never afraid to "bling it on". *

Sally Field in Martin Katz - While watching last night live, she was the first necklace that I spotted.  A very classic look, she was dripping in Martin Katz from head to toe. *

Jessica Alba in Harry Winston ~ Wowza wowza!  This was the talk of the #globejewelry twitter feed last night.  She did not disappoint with this $5.8 million Mrs. Winston neck bauble.

Enjoy and remember to make jewelry an everyday essential!
